Daily life runs along El Toro Road and the newer commercial strip along the freeway, with Foothill Ranch Towne Centre serving the north side. The Irvine Spectrum is close enough that many residents treat it as their downtown.

Lake Forest sits in Saddleback Valley Unified, with El Toro and Trabuco Hills as the high schools most neighborhoods feed. The newer Baker Ranch and Serrano Summit tracts draw families partly for their proximity to newer campuses — we confirm the exact assignment by address.
Getting around
I-5 runs straight through the city and the 241 toll road serves Foothill Ranch and Portola Hills, which makes Lake Forest one of the easier South County commutes toward Irvine and the airport. There's no rail station in town; the nearest Metrolink stops are in Irvine and Laguna Niguel.
